Lobby with LEO, OR Call YOUR Legislators

By:

Weds, April 17th is LEO/MEDA Environmental Lobby Day. Back in December, LEO joined forces w/ Missouri Coalition for the Environment (MCE) and Environment Missouri to lobby for floodplain protections, strong coal ash regulations in Missouri, clean energy and support for our state parks.

We still have room if you would like to join us. LEO is coordinating a carpool from the Gray Summit exit commuter lot (corner of Old 100 and New 100, south side of Hwy 44, Gray Summit exit) that will leave at 6 am for Jefferson City. Plans are to learn about lobbying, visit our legislators to talk w/ them about 3 issues: coal ash regulation, funding for parks and clean energy. We will be done by 3pm when the carpools will return to the area. People will be coming from across the state to join us. It should be a great day as we join other citizen lobbyist visiting the Missouri Capital.

To register, follow this link to a Google Registration Form. Cost of the lobby day expenses (lunch, materials) is $20/person.

IF YOU CANNOT GO, don’t despair…we have something for you to do right from home or office.  Please check out our action alert on Facebook pages Labadie Environmental Organization (LEO) and Save Our Bottoms…and while you are there, be sure to LIKE us and visit often. LEO has committed to keeping those pages current and making sure you know the news of the day. Share our posts w/ your friends and family. We need to do a lot of outreach and education on our issues.

Take 5 minutes WEDS, 4/17 to call your State Rep, State Senator and the Gov Office to say…we need groundwater monitoring around ALL MISSOURI COAL ASH WASTE SITES. For your Senators, SCR 8 (Sifton, Dem, 1st District) deserves a hearing before end of session May 17th. For your Representatives, HCR 26 (Kirkton, Dem, 91st District) deserves assignment to committee and a hearing! The links for how to easily log a comment w/ the Governor’s office and with your legislators are online at our Facebook pages. CALL you legislators and say, “I wish I could be there, but…in any event I want you to know how much I care about this issue….” Share your concerns and ask for a hearing of the issue in the Senate and the House. Ask the Gov to tell MO DNR to start groundwater monitoring around all sites now.
