ACTION: Contact Commission to say NO Changes to Code

Franklin Co MO and Surrounding Communities

We are in the last stages of the Franklin County decision whether or not to open us all up to coal ash landfills.  Planning and Zoning hearings were about making a recommendation to the County Commission and then the Commission had its own hearings to gather public input. A majority vote of the 3 member County Commission will decide IF Franklin County changes its existing zoning code to allow coal ash landfills.

The last of the transcripts were delivered to the Commissioners last Monday and the Commissioners have started reviewing for their deliberations.  We have been told that these meetings will be public and announced in advance.  At a minimum, it will be posted on the County website as part of the County Commission Agenda.  The week before they stated in a public meeting that they would likely announce in the local newspaper, The Missourian ( and potentially on the radio (  We suggest you check all of these sources and also read LEO email alerts to be sure you have all the most recent information and can plan to attend.  We need people there.

Letters, calls and signing a postcard indicating your desire that the County NOT change the zoning laws to allow CCW landfilling can only help.  See contact info below and look for postcards at our events (Happy Hours, movie night, etc.) or download a sheet to fill out 1 and share 3 with friends. First print the front…then the back. Cut, fill out, stamp and mail.  Thank you!   Or send a handwritten letter to the Commission:
